Tornado sirens began to blare at around 12:30 a.m. after a tornado warning was issued in Minneapolis – the second warning for the city this season – as well as Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Shakopee, Bloomington, Edina, St. Louis Park and Burnsville.
Residents were told to head indoors and to their basements if possible.

A few minutes after the alert was issued, the National Weather Service said the tornado was no longer observed, but noted that it could “very quickly produce another tornado and is not a storm to be messed with.”
While the tornado warning was no longer in effect, a severe thunderstorm warning was then issued, with strong winds in excess of 60 mph reported in the metro area.
Flash flooding warnings have also been issued to the west of the metro in Wright County.
