Jeep Avenger Hits 200,000 Orders, Adds New 4xe AWD Hybrid Model

Jeep has now taken over 200,000 orders for the Avenger, its compact crossover built in Poland and designed squarely for the European market. It’s a huge milestone for a model that only launched in late 2022 — and even more impressive when you remember the Jeep Renegade was axed last year after sales dropped through the floor.

This runaway success is likely one reason Stellantis is leaning harder than ever into electrified small SUVs, even while battling poor sales in other corners of its showroom. As recent data shows, Jeep’s Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer lineup has been struggling badly in the US, while the Jeep Gladiator — once hailed as the saviour of rugged pickups — is barely crawling out of dealership lots these days.

So, while the American end of the brand tries to stem the bleeding with option-packed “Super” Wagoneers and Hail Mary discounts, Europe’s more compact, electrified Avenger just keeps on marching.

4xe Means AWD Is Finally Here

The newly unveiled Avenger 4xe adds Jeep’s hallmark all-wheel-drive ability to the lineup — something the original electric model lacked entirely. And no, it’s not just a marketing badge. The 4xe uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with dual electric motors (one on each axle), allowing for 145 horsepower and actual torque vectoring across both axles.

It’s no Wrangler, but it’s far more capable off-road than you’d expect: 210 mm of ground clearance, 400 mm water wading depth, proper approach and departure angles, and a Selec-Terrain system for mud, sand, and snow. There’s even a mechanical rear differential lock.

Compared to most crossover hybrids that barely get off a curb, this is a rare thing — a genuinely usable light off-roader that’s still efficient around town. It slots in below the Compass 4xe but offers comparable capability in a smaller, lighter, and more affordable package.

Inside: Tough Yet Minimal

The cabin isn’t a dramatic departure from the electric Avenger, but there are thoughtful additions for outdoorsy types. You get neoprene seat materials, easy-clean surfaces, and a boot floor that’s washable and hardwearing.

It still has 10.25-inch digital screens for both driver and media, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Jeep’s Uconnect system — so it’s not lacking the modern tech either. Rear seat space is still tight, but that’s the price of small-car packaging.

The North Face Edition: A Mountain-Inspired Limited Run

Alongside the new all-wheel-drive variant, Jeep is launching the North Face Edition — a limited run of just 4,806 units that takes the collaboration seriously. This isn’t just slapping a logo on the dashboard: the design draws inspiration from mountain topography, while durable materials and technical features are genuinely built for challenging terrain. It’s a smart partnership that reinforces the Avenger’s outdoor credentials while giving buyers something genuinely exclusive. With production numbers that low, expect it to sell out quickly.

A Rare Bright Spot for Jeep

With Wrangler still attracting die-hards and rubber duck gifts and the Avenger now exceeding every expectation, there’s a weird dichotomy in Jeep’s showroom: the top and bottom of the lineup are flying, while the middle’s falling apart.

That might be why Stellantis is already working on reviving the Cherokee and tweaking the Grand Cherokee — because the Avenger can’t carry the whole brand on its little hybrid shoulders forever.

Still, in a world of underachieving EVs and overcomplicated SUVs, the Avenger 4xe feels like something rare: a well-executed small SUV with real off-road ability and no pretensions. It won’t steal headlines, but it might just steal buyers — and that’s what matters most.
