Southern Border Police arrest three in drug-smuggling operation

Border Police officers thwarted a drug-smuggling operation, arresting three suspects who allegedly tried to smuggle over 17 kilograms of hashish using drones along Israel’s southern border with Jordan, Israel Police said Thursday.
During the operation, police, in coordination with IDF soldiers, seized several drones and two operational vehicles at the scene. These vehicles are suspected of being used in the smuggling attempt.
The three suspects, Bedouin residents of the Negev, have been arrested and are undergoing questioning by the Southern District Police’s central unit.

Commitment to stopping smuggling networks
According to the statement, the Southern District Police, led by Haim Bobalil, Police commander of the Ayalon area, are committed to thwarting the smuggling of illegal goods across Israel’s borders.
This operation is part of a ongoing effort to combat the illegal trafficking of drugs and weapons, often linked to criminal and terrorist groups.
The police emphasized that the smuggling operations are likely orchestrated by criminal and terrorist groups involved in serious offenses.
The Southern District Police are deploying all necessary resources to disrupt and dismantle smuggling networks, both within Israel and internationally.
